STATEMENT OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

"There is no teaching in a classroom only learning."

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

2010 to present: Adjunct faculty, Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture (formerly School of Mass Communications), Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. Journalism Writing.

2005 to 2009: Adjunct faculty, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Richmond, VA. English 111 and 112, College Composition I and II.

Fall Semester 2004: Adjunct faculty, Capital University, Dayton, OH, campus. Taught one section of Public Relations 261, Introduction to Public Relations. Internet-based self-paced course, three semester hours credit.

Spring Semester 2002: Adjunct faculty, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Taught one section of English 218, Copy Editing and Page Makeup. Required undergraduate course for journalism majors.

1991 to 1995: Chief Instructor, Feature Writing, Defense Information School, Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN. Two-week summer course in feature writing for reserve military journalists of all branches.

1991: Instructor, Copy Editing, Defense Information School, Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN. One-week summer course for reserve military journalists of all branches.

1989: Non-credit course, CLEP Preparation, West Virginia Northern Community College, Weirton, WV. Prepared students to study for and pass College Level Examination Program exams for college credit.
